AFRIHEALTH OPTONET ASSOCIATION (AHOA): DRIVING HEALTH, RIGHTS, AND
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN AFRICA
Afrihealth Optonet Association (AHOA) is a Nigeria-based,
Africa-focused civil society and non-governmental organization (NGO) committed
to promoting health, community systems strengthening, sustainable development,
climate action, and human security across Africa and the Global South. It
brings together a vibrant network of civil society organizations,
community-based groups, and development actors to advance equity, inclusion,
and human rights for vulnerable populations.
VISION AND MISSION
AHOA envisions a world where people—particularly women, children,
youths, the elderly, persons with disabilities, and marginalized
communities—enjoy good health, dignity, justice, and prosperity. Its mission is
to foster sustainable development through integrated health, climate,
governance, and human rights interventions, ensuring that no one is left
behind.
Core Areas of Work
AHOA operates through a multidisciplinary approach spanning several
key thematic areas:
1. Health and Wellbeing
o Advocacy for
universal health coverage (UHC) and quality healthcare.
o Programs to combat
HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, neglected tropical diseases, and
non-communicable diseases.
o Maternal, newborn,
child, and adolescent health (MNCAH) initiatives including nutrition,
immunization, and reproductive health.
2. Gender Equality and
Women’s Empowerment:
o Campaigns against
female genital mutilation (FGM), child marriage, and gender-based violence.
o Empowerment of women
and girls through skills training, digital literacy, leadership development,
and economic inclusion.
o Advocacy for
gender-sensitive policies and enforcement of women’s rights.
3. Sustainable
Development and Climate Action:
o Promotion of
climate-smart agriculture, food security, renewable energy, and biodiversity
protection.

irregular migration and human trafficking through awareness campaigns.
